Have you ever wanted to learn how to safely shoot a handgun?
Do you know how to shoot a handgun, but are confused about whether you’re doing it right?
If either of these are true, then this course is for you. The NRA Basic Pistol course is a comprehensive introduction to handgun fundamentals. Through both classroom and range time, we’ll cover how to safely and effectively shoot pistols and revolvers.
Students will learn
- NRA’s rules for safe gun handling
- pistol parts and operation
- ammunition types
- shooting fundamentals
- range rules
- how to shoot from bench rest position and two-handed standing positions
- how to clean a pistol
- continued opportunities for shooting-skill development
All equipment, including firearms and ammunition, is provided. This class is nine hours long and satisfies the training course requirement for the Iowa Permit to Carry Weapons application.
