Have you ever wanted to learn how to safely shoot a handgun?

 

Do you know how to shoot a handgun, but are confused about whether you’re doing it right?

Want something to do on Valentine’s Day?

If any of these are true, then this course is for you. The NRA Basic Pistol course is a comprehensive introduction to handgun fundamentals. Through both classroom and range time, we’ll cover how to safely and effectively shoot pistols and revolvers.

Students will learn

  • NRA’s rules for safe gun handling
  • pistol parts and operation
  • ammunition types
  • shooting fundamentals
  • range rules
  • how to shoot from bench rest position and two-handed standing positions
  • how to clean a pistol
  • continued opportunities for shooting-skill development

All equipment, including firearms and ammunition, is provided. This class is nine hours long and satisfies the training course requirement for the Iowa Permit to Carry Weapons application.
