NRA Basic Pistol Course

The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. This course is 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA's rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, two-handed and one-handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook and through completion of the course, students will earn a course completion certificate from the NRA. Students do not need to bring firearms to this class, but may do so if approved by the instructor. .22 LR pistols & revolvers will be provided for students to use. This course is limited to 10 students. Cost is $150 per student, which includes all materials and .22lr ammunition.
We will be indoors for the entire course, including using the indoor range for the live-fire portion of the course. Please wear range appropriate clothing - no open toed shoes / low cut or loose fitting tops. We will take a lunch break around noon. Class should finish between 4pm and 5pm.
Coffee, water, and light snacks are provided during the class. The Ikes also have a limited selection of pop for sale in the chapterhouse.
This course is a required, pre-requisite to become an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor.
