Intro to Low Light Defensive Handgun

Most defensive encounters occur in a reduced light environment. This 4 hour course is designed to provide students with an introduction to principles for using a handheld flashlight during reduced-light self-defense encounters with a handgun.
Each student will need a defensive caliber handgun with 3 magazines or speedloaders, a strong-side belt or paddle holster, a quality handheld flashlight, 150 rounds of factory-new ammunition, and appropriate range clothing (close-toed shoes / no low-cut tops).
The class will cover the following information:
- Human Physiology & Vision related to reduced light environments
- Equipment - lighting and sighting options
- Principles of Low Light Operations
- Techniques
- Practice Drills -- dry and live
- Scenarios
Students taking this class must have completed a basic defensive pistol course such as Intro to Defensive Handgun, or demonstrate proficiency in safe handling prior to taking the course. Class is limited to 4 students - cost of the class is $80. This class meets requirements for the Iowa Permit to Carry Weapons.
