Ames Izaak Walton League

We need help!  Your help and consideration is what keeps this chapter alive!!

The Ames Chapter desperately needs your help to keep the park operating smoothly.  The grounds committee needs people to help mow the park.  With more than 80 acres of ground to care for and approximately 10 acres that need to be mowed regularly, those who selflessly volunteer their time - maintain our chapter's grounds.  All too often, however, it is only a handful of members who are willing to help out. This in turn, leads to burnout and the loss of good members.  By spreading out the work, we can ease the pressure on volunteers and further strengthen our club.

We need 10 or 15 people who can volunteer a few hours a month - weekdays, weekends, evenings, it is really up to you.

The grounds are mowed with a John Deere 28HP ZTR 777 mower and a Ford tractor using a Woods mowing deck.  Don’t worry if you’ve never used a tractor before, the John Deere is really easy to use and won’t tip on the hills.  We will provide an introduction to the mower and tractor and get your started.

If you can volunteer please contact us to volunteer.
