Annual Kid's Fishing Derby at Hickory Grove

Bring your family out to the lake for Story County Conservation and Ames Izaak Walton League's "Kids Fishing Derby" on Thursday July 10th 2008. The event will be held at Hickory Grove Park near Colo from 5:30 pm to 8:00 p.m., with registration beginning upon arrival near the beach house. This derby is for youth ages 15 and younger. The event was to be held during Iowa's free fishing weekend, but do the the rainfall on Sunday, it has been rescheduled.  You don't need a fishing license and no fee is charged.

The first 125 kids registered will take home a "goodie bag" and all participants are eligible for door prizes. Bring your own equipment if you have it; some will be on hand if you don't. Night crawlers will be available for purchase at the beach house. This event will be cancelled or postponed if weather conditions are unsafe for participants; call 641-377­2828 that day with questions. Head out to the lake to see what all the derby fun is about!
